We have recently set up a lobbying group to lobby the government on policy development in the field of autism and early years- starting with Scotland then hopefully taking on the rest of the UK.
There is currently very limited post diagnosis support for families, no uniformity of approach to either diagnosis or access to services and no policy to ensure access to quality assured early intervention for children with Autism or related disorders.
As part of our lobbying campaign I am hoping to collect as much evidence and as many stories as possible from families who have had experiences of the current system. I am also setting up a formal post diagnosis and early intervention service based in Scotland (but covering the UK as a whole) with an autism specific specialist nursery.
